Smaro Katsangelou
Smaro is a practicing architect and engineer from Greece, graduating as the valedictorian from AUTh’s School of Architecture. Her professional practice focuses on exhibition and museum design, as well as historic building and monument restoration.
With over 8 years of research experience, her work explores the intersection of new technologies and architectural heritage, seeking to bridge the collective human past with digital heterotopia. She has published and presented research across multiple countries, including the Netherlands, Singapore, and the United States.
Currently, Smaro teaches 2nd and 4th year Design at Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Architecture. She is also part of the DigitalFUTURES Organizing Committee, actively participating in lectures, panels, and conferences on AI and Architecture.
After completing her MSc. in Preservation, Conservation, and Restoration of Cultural Monuments at AUTh, she is now pursuing a PhD focusing on Architecture, Artificial Intelligence & Robotics at Florida Atlantic University.
